Jagan’s Master Stroke To Amaravati Farmers

In a crucial development, the Andhra Pradesh government has moved to the Supreme Court on the ‘Three Capitals’ row. Challenging the AP High Court’s verdict on Amaravati, the AP government filed a petition in the Supreme Court. This seems to be a master stroke by Jagan to Amaravati farmers who are busy in Amarvati to Arasavalli Padayatra.

Previously the AP High Court held that the State legislature should make any legislation for shifting the capital. The court also directed the State government to construct and develop Amaravati, and the capital region within six months. This was a huge setback for the YCP government which had initiated ‘Three Capitals.’ Following this, the YCP government withdrew the ‘Three Capitals’ bill.

In the latest petition, the AP government mentioned that the High Court questioned the Assembly powers in making legislations. AP government also argued that it initiated three capitals for decentralisation of administration. “The High Court’s verdict is disrespectful to the Assembly,” said the AP government and urged the Supreme Court to issue a stay on the High Court’s verdict.

This move from the AP government comes amidst the reports that the state government is planning to introduce a fresh ‘Three Capitals’ bill in the on-going Assembly sessions. This ignited a political debate yet again on ‘Three Capitals’

It seems the YCP is laying calculative steps on ‘Three Capitals.’ The YCP wants no legal troubles before introducing the ‘Three Capitals’ bill in the Assembly and it is watchful of every step.
