Jagan Is A HERO, Yarlagadda On NTR Name Change

Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad who resigned as the chairman of Andhra Pradesh Official Language Commission (APOFLC) called on the press and clarified on the controversy surrounding removal of NTR’s name to Health University. Yarlagadda also responded to some media reports that he is moving away from AP CM Jagan and YCP government.

“There is no question of going back on my resignation because I did not like what had happened. Changing names is a bad tradition and it should not be encouraged,” said Yarlagadda.

Clarifying on his equations with AP CM Jagan, Yarlagadda said, “I have been receiving calls from USA and Telugu states regarding the latest controversy. Some questioned my silence on CM Jagan but I would like to say that in my view, Jagan is a HERO because he defied the likes of Sonia Gandhi. He spent 16 months in jail in various cases and later walked over 3500 kilometres against the previous government. Finally he became CM with all his effort.”

Yarlagadda was also all praise of CM Jagan’s father YSR and indirectly he defended YSR’s name to Health University. “After becoming CM, YSR made me Hindi Academy chairman and gave me a cabinet rank. But the one thing that I liked in YSR is, he named the Telugu Ganga project after NTR,” stated Yarlagadda.

Raking up the issue of gun attack at Nandamuri Balakrishna’s residence, Yaralgadda added that immediately after this incident, I went to then CM YSR. “As I approached YSR, he patted me and predicted the reason behind my presence. Everyone knows what happened to that case,” said Yarlagadda.

On CM Jagan, Yarlagadda said that he did not ask anything. “Without me asking anything, CM Jagan made me chairman of APOFLC and in the last three years, every G.O. I asked for, was granted within hours and the budget was allocated accordingly. So why should I criticise CM Jagan? Yes I did not like the name change decision and I resigned and I will stand by my decision. When Jagan took decisions that were in the best interest of people, I appreciated and I openly confessed my views when Jagan took a bad decision,” added Yarlagadda.

All in all Yarlagadda was diplomatic in his reaction. He is stubborn on resignation yet he has regards for CM Jagan and YCP government.
