Telangana TDP opts out of Munugode by-poll!

The Telangana TDP has opted out of Munugode by-election and this is said to be a last minute decision. Until the other day the T-TDP planned to contest the poll and Jakkali Ilaiah Yadav’s name surfaced as the name on behalf of the party.

With all the major parties i.e, BJP, Congress and TRS fielding ‘Reddy’ community contestants, T-TDP zeroed on a BC community leader and estimated that it would be its trump card. There were leaks to the media that Ilaiah Yadav’s name would be announced officially on Thursday and he would file nomination on Friday (October 14) being the last day of nominations. However, unclear what transpired, the T-TDP has decided not to contest and instead made up its mind to work on strengthening the party in the constituency.

Under these circumstances, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu will be visiting NTR Trust Bhavan on Saturday and he is likely to meet T-TDP leaders and discuss the Munugode by-poll. This meeting has gained significance as the party might take a call on whom to support in the by-poll.

Before the by-poll notification was out, T-PCC chief Revanth Reddy visited Munugode and he appealed to the local TDP cadre to support and vote for Congress party and their candidate. But on the other hand, TDP is going soft on BJP and is willing to extend support, if there comes a proposal.

Political analysts believe that T-TDP is in a tight spot with the Munugode by-election and the ball is in Chandrababu Naidu’s court.
