Insulting Comments On Khushbu And Namita Backfired Big-time

DMK leader Saidi Sadiq’s remarks against senior film actress and BJP leader Khushboo sparked a political furore in Tamil Nadu. The DMK leader said that actresses and BJP leaders Khsuhbu Sundar, Goutami, Gayatri and Namita were ‘items’. It backfired so big that DMK’s own MP Kanimozhi apologized on his behalf, as a damage control measure.

Protesting against the derogatory remarks against their party leaders, BJP leaders and cadre held demonstrations at various places across the state. Similarly, Khushbu’s fans also came on to the roads and began shouting slogans against the DMK leader.

Reacting to Khushbu’s tweet, DMK MP and Deputy General Secretary Kanimozhi apologised “as a woman and a human being” for what was said in the speech. She tweeted that that her brother and Chief Minister MK Stalin would not tolerate denigration of women and would initiate strict action against Sadiq.

According to sources, Stalin is likely to take serious action against Sadiq for making the controversial remarks. Following the comment, Khushbu took to Twitter and posted a tweet asking the DMK if that the respect their party would give to the women. She asked if this was the Dravidian model about which CM MK Stalin is proudly proclaiming. The actor-turned-politician tweeted: “These men insult the womb of a woman. Such men call themselves followers of #Kalaignar.”

This is not the first time that Sadiq targeted the BJP leaders. Earlier, he said that the BJP’s lotus would never bloom in Tamil Nadu. Sadiq later apologized for his comments, saying he did not mean to hurt any leader.

Earlier this month, Stalin warned his party cadre of strict action if their words or actions brought disrepute to the party. Now, it has to be seen what type of action would Stalin take against Sadiq.
