P Sarath Chandra Reddy, brother of Vijay Sai Reddy’s son-in-law Rohit Reddy and Director of Aurobindo Pharma, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the Delhi liquor scam. Sarath Chandra Reddy along with Vinay Babu of liquor company Pernod Ricard India were arrested today morning after 3 days of interrogation.
The Enforcement Directorate has quizzed Sarath Chandra Reddy and Vinay Babu in its office and arrested the duo.The arrest of Sarath Chandra Reddy is likely to create tremors politically in the Telugu states.
Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sissodia’s aide Dinesh Arora who was accused in this scam turned approver recently. This is expected to bring more names to the fore. Deputy CM Manish Sissodia is also an accused in the case.
Earlier Hyderabad-based businessman Boinapallay Abhishek Rao, Vijay Nair from Mumbai and Sameer Mahendra from Delhi were arrested in this case.
According to reports, Delhi liquor scam is a change of Delhi liquor policy benefiting the sellers of liquor by increasing their profits and reducing the revenue of the government. It is reported that several influential businessmen and political leaders from various states were involved in this high-profile corruption in liquor.
The Delhi government had come up with a new liquor selling policy. But it was red-flagged by the Lieutenant Governor over alleged corruption and asked the CBI to look into it. Meanwhile, the Arvind Kejriwal government cancelled the new liquor policy and reverted to the old one.
