“If Varasudu and Thunivu are not released in a big way for Sankranthi 2023 in Telugu states, the consequences will be different,” says ace director Lingusamy, who is struggling to make a hit film in recent times. He has directed “The Warrior” with Ram Pothineni recently and the film tanked without any trace at the box office.
Stating that today all films have become pan-India movies and there is nothing like language boundaries, Lingusamy opined that it is wrong to say theatres will not be available for Tamil-dubbed movies during festivals in Telugu states.
“We have Rajamouli sir’s Baahubali is releasing in Tamil and all other languages, and similarly Tamil big films will also release in the same way. Also with Varisu being produced by a Telugu producer (Dil Raju), the film should get enough theatres in Telugu states. Else, the situation will be like before Varasudu and after Varasudu” said Lingusamy.
Already Allu Arvind stated that it is not possible to restrict releases of dubbed movies during festivals, and now Lingusamy is threatening this way, so it looks like Megastar’s Waltair Veerayya and Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy have to face stiff competition from Vijay’s Varasudu and Ajith’s Thunivu at the Sankranthi 2023 box office.
