YCP MLC Anantha Babu who is the prime accused in the murder of his car driver who belongs to the Dalit community has been granted bail by the Supreme Court.
Initially Anantha Babu approached the trial court and AP High Court for bail. But the crime committed by Anantha Babu was highly offensive and so the trial court and AP High Court denied him bail.
With all options running out, the YCP MLC approached the Supreme Court and after prolonged hearings, the court granted bail. However this bail has terms and conditions and the Supreme Court suggested that the conditions for bail will be laid by the local trials court. This case has been further postponed to next year March 14th.
YCP MLC Anantha Babu brutally murdered his car driver Subramanyam in May this year. This crime turned into a sensation and eventually was arrested by the AP Police after a huge uproar and protests from opposition and Dalit community. He was charged with Section 302, SC, ST atrocity of IPC and later the YCP suspended Anantha Babu from the party.
