The Guntur police have arrested NRI Vuyyuru Srinivas Rao in Vijayawada following the stampede incident at Vikas hostel grounds in Sadasivanagar in which three women died. Srinivas led Vuyyuru Foundation organised a give away for people on the eve of New Year and Sankranthi festival.
The atmosphere at the venue turned chaotic as people, especially women thronged to grab their gifts. This resulted in a stampede and three women died and multiple were injured in this stampede. One of the victims was identified as Ramdevi and her son lodged a complaint with the Guntur police.
The cops have lodged a case under sections 174 and 307 and added Vuyyuru Srinivas Rao as A1 accused. But post this incident Uyyur Srinivas left the venue and reached Vijayawada. The Guntur police examined the CCTV footage and traced Srinivas’ whereabouts. He was reportedly residing at a hotel on Eluru road.
The police reached the hotel and arrested Srinivas. Currently he is being shifted to Guntur and will produce him before the court for further investigation.
