Big Benefit To Rayalaseema Farmers

AP Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, along with Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, launched the Kisan Rail services via a video link. The train would travel between Anantapur and Delhi, carrying the agri produce of the Rayalaseema farmers to the national capital.

However, Jagan Mohan Reddy urged PM Narendra Modi to intervene and see that the train fare was reduced keeping in view affordability of the farmers.

“Though AP is top in agri produce, the state has been facing problems in exporting the same to other states due to Covid crisis. Of the total agri produce harvested by AP, only 10-15 per cent is consumed by the people in the state. AP had been the fruit-producing hub in south India and such rail services will help the farmers get a remunerative produce for their produce,” the CM said.

Narendra Singh Tomar said that it was the second Kisan Rail in the country and added that it will be of great help to the Anantapur farmers. It will help in exporting the horticulture and agri produce of the farmers in the Rayalaseema region, he said, adding that the train will make transportation of the agri produce cost-effective.

The train will pass through Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana before reaching Delhi. All the farmers in these states can also benefit from the train services, he said, adding that the Centre has introduced the train to ensure that the farmers get minimum support price to their produce.
