Former MP Undavalli Arun Kumar has been claiming that the AP Bifurcation Act bill was not passed in the Parliament and he went on to pen a book on the developments that took place in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Undavalli approached former CM Chandrababu Naidu with the book and asked the latter to file an affidavit in the Supreme Court. However, Undavalli’s request went in vain.
In a press meet, Undavalli urged current AP CM YS Jagan Reddy to consider filing the petition based on the insights of his book on AP Bifurcation. We hear that CM Jagan has filed a petition in the Supreme Court and Undavalli acknowledged it.
“I know what happened in the Lok Sabha because I was a member. The AP Bifurcation Act bill was not passed and for the last nine years, I have said this in numerous press meets. With the book, I consulted ex-CM Chandrababu Naidu. He said he would definitely file a petition but nothing as such happened. I did not meet current CM Jagan even once but I said in a press meet to file a petition and the AP government did,” said Undavalli.
On AP government’s petition on AP Bifurcation, Undavalli said that the petition will take at least two or three months to come up for hearing. “In the same press meet I said if CM Jagan doesn’t file a petition against AP Bifurcation, he will be another Chandrababu. But he filed the petition and supported my arguments and book. This petition will definitely come for hearing in the Supreme Court,” added Undavalli.
The ex-MP found fault with the media for asking him to take sides. “Some of the media want me to criticize CM Jagan. They want me to pick either Chandrababu or Jagan as they don’t want me to stay neutral. I don’t know what is wrong with the media these days,” said Undavalli.
What will the Supreme Court have to say on the AP government’s petition? Nine years have gone by and the bifurcation scar continues to haunt and most likely the Supreme Court would suggest to resolve the bifurcation issues because the Centre is dodging to look into the matter.
