Why Jagan Silent On Sharmila’s Arrest?

Jagan’s silence on Sharmila’s arrest has become a hot topic in social media and political circles. Sharmila is not just a sister, she is a trusted loyalist of Jagan once. When Jagan was jailed in Disproportionate Assets case and his padayatra was stopped midway, it was YS Sharmila who continued the padayatra taking a cue from Jagan. Sharmila had then stated, “I”m Jagan’s Arrow”. She went all out to make Jagan stand politically. Sharmila’s husband Anil Kumar, a pastor, had vouched for Jagan’s victory in his meetings. Mother Vijayamma too stood by her son in his tough times.

Sharmila had been facing trouble and restrictions from Telangana police. She was not allowed to do any protests or padayatra. Police have house arrested Sharmila several times. On a fateful day, Sharmila had an argument with police and she lost her cool and slapped the police. Police have arrested her and sent her to Chanchalguda women’s jail. Vijayamma who went to see Sharmila in the police station too had a bad experience. Despite such big happenings, neither Jagan nor YSRCP has responded on the issue. None of YSRCP leaders made a statement in support of Sharmila.

None other than Jagan’s silence on sister Sharmila’s arrest and the consequences are a burning topic on social media. Even hard-core fans of Jagan Mohan Reddy and YSRCP are unable to understand why Jagan is tight-lipped on sister’s arrest.

No doubt, Sharmila and Vijayamma made a mistake by slapping police personnel, but as a family member Jagan should break his silence and at least announce a moral support from him or his party. On the other hand, leaders of other political parties are extending their support to Sharmila against the BRS party.
