Sharmila Released On Conditional Bail

YSR Telangana Party president YS Sharmila was arrested on Monday by the Banjara Hills police and later was remanded to 14 days of judicial custody by the Nampally court. She was released from Chanchalguda jail on conditional bail on Tuesday.

Sharmila was arrested and booked on various charges including an assault on police officers who tried to restrain her from going to the Special Investigation Team’s office. She wanted to protest on SIT regarding their probe into the Telangana State Public Service Commission question paper leak case. Granting her bail, the court asked her to submit two sureties of ₹30,000 each and get permission in case of foreign travel.

YS Sharmila was seen pushing away the police personnel, slapping a female constable, and forcing her driver to move the car despite the police obstructing the way. Sharmila spoke to the media after her release and said, ‘All I wanted was to go to the SIT office to submit my representation on the TSPSC question paper leak case. The police personnel, only two of them female constables, manhandled me. They selectively disclosed visuals that show my reaction towards them, but not how they behaved with me. My action was only in self-defense.

Sharmila said KCR insulted the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s wife and put her (Sharmila) in jail. ‘He will face more’, she vowed.
