“Ah, Rahul Vachinda?” “We are best friends!” “Inokati Rahul… Extralu Yendukayya?” These were the words uttered by Telangana CM KCR at The Hindu journalist Rahul during the press meet at Pragathi Bhavan. During the Covid-19 lockdown, KCR held frequent press meets, and journalist Rahul used to ask numerous questions to CM KCR.
Sometimes the journalist would, to some extent, irritate KCR with his typical questions, and the Chief Minister would respond logically. At that time, many people wanted to know who this journalist was, who was so composed in countering KCR. Later, a picture of him surfaced on social media, and he eventually became a celebrity, although he maintained a low profile.
Now, this journalist from The Hindu has retired. Having spent nearly three decades in the media industry, journalist Rahul’s last working day was on May 31st. At The Hindu, he mostly covered politics and any news that emanated from Pragathi Bhavan.
The other day, KCR hosted a press meet along with Delhi and Punjab chief ministers. Probably, that was Rahul’s last press meet he attended at Pragathi Bhavan. So we will no longer hear the name ‘Rahul’ from KCR, and it would be interesting to see how KCR reacts to Rahul’s retirement.”
