Annavaram To Bhimavaram: Pawan Focus on Kapu Votes

Jana Sena chief and actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan is all set to launch his yatra on Varahi, his campaign vehicle, from June 14.

Pawan would begin his yatra after offering prayers at the Lord Satyanarayana Swamy temple in Annavaram. He would then proceed to Prathipadu, Kakinada Rural and Urban, Mummidivaram, Amalapuram, P Gannavaram and Razole in erstwhile East Godavari district.

In the erstwhile West Godavari district, he would cover Palacole, Narsapuaram and Bhimavaram constituencies.

He is focused on attracting all the Kapu voters concentrated in the constituencies between Annavaram and Bhimavaram. Kapus constitute a major portion of the population in these constituencies spread in East and West Godavari districts. During his yatra, he would cover all the constituencies in these districts and interact with the community members to gain their support in the upcoming elections.

Kapus constitute 27 per cent of the population in the state, which means nearly a quarter of the total state’s population, and they are mainly concentrated in the East and West Godavari districts. Their ability to ‘make or break’ the victory of any political candidate makes them more prominent in the state. Due to this factor, all the major political parties have been focusing on wooing the Kapu electorate.

There are reports that Pawan would begin his activity at 9 am and interact with the local leaders, lawyers, intellectuals, doctors, other professionals and understand their problems. He would also make field visits to assess the gravity of various issues in these constituencies and also to resolve them.

He would also interact with farmers, women, unemployed youths, artists, toddy tappers, construction workers, fishermen, weavers and all other significant sections of the society.

Pawan is determined to bag all the Kapu votes and he reportedly is trying to carry out electioneering in a strategic manner, to get their votes. He is likely to spend two days in each constituency to understand problems at the ground-level.

Jana Sena political affairs committee chairman Nadendla Manohar announced Pawan Kalyan’s tour programme at the party office in Mangalagiri on Friday.

When Pawan’s brother and thespian Megastar Chiranjeevi launched Praja Rajyam, the Kapus backed him in large number as he too belongs to their community. Pawan is also trying to establish a connection with the Kapu voters on the same lines and ignite a feeling of brotherhood with the community members.

Time and again, the JS chief iterated that his only aim was to get the YCP voted out of power. As part of his strategy to achieve this, he plans to get all the Kapu votes into his party’s kitty.
