The first day of the Parliament’s Monsoon session began on a grim note as 17 MPs have been tested positive for Covid-19. Ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, Covid tests were done for all the MPs of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha yesterday. Lok Sabha MPs were tested at the Parliament House. The tests reports have come today.
A total of 17 Lok Sabha MPs were infected with the virus. Among the infected MPs, BJP MPs were the highest with 12 MPs contracted to the virus. YSRCP has two MPs, Shiv Sena, DMK and RLP has 1 MP each. The Lok Sabha MPs who tested positive for Covid include Meenakshi Lekhi, Anant Kumar Hegde, Parvesh Sahib Singh, YSRCP MPs Madhavi (Araku MP) and Reddappa (Chittoor MP).
The Monsoon Session which starts today will continue for the next 18 days. 47 items have been identified for being taken up during the Monsoon Session of the Parliament, which includes 45 Bills and two financial items.
YSRCP Supports NDA : Vijay Sai Reddy
In Rajya Sabha, the newly-elected members have taken the oath. Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President Venkaiah Naidu remembered Pranab Mukherjee, Amar Singh, Beni Prasad Varma and other former members of the Upper House who passed away recently. Meanwhile, YSRCP Parliamentary Party Leader and MP Vijay Sai Reddy announced that the party will support NDA candidate Harivansh for the post of Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman.
