These are the times politics are judged by money power. Politicians do not hesitate to switch loyalties if they are influenced with money and a good position in government. For people, it is very rare to find an honest politician who is at the service of the public and stays loyal to the political party that has given him life. Kothakota Dayakar Reddy falls in this space and he is so special to the Telugu Desam party.
Dayakar Reddy hails from Mahbubnagar district and before AP bifurcation, he was a three time MLA. In separate statehood, he contested twice but lost. Despite being three time MLA, Dayakar Reddy did not get any notable position in the government and party. Yet he stuck to TDP even though the party was fading. Such was his loyalty and that’s an unmatched commitment Dayakar Reddy displayed.
TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu has complete knowledge of Dayakar Reddy and his devotion for the party. As soon as Naidu learned the death news of Dayakar Reddy, the former immediately reached the native village of the latter. Pacifying the family members, Naidu even took part in the funeral of Dayakar Reddy.
A few days back when Dayakar Reddy was spotted at TDP office i.e, NTR Trust Bhavan, he was asked why he is not switching parties like many of them. He replied that he cannot betray a party that has given him all and by God’s grace, he owned farm lands and has no evil intentions of making more money in an illicit way.
Apparently Dayakar Reddy was still a bankable leader. If he had decided to leave TDP, other major parties in Telangana would lay a red carpet and also offer him options that are unimaginable. But Dayakar Reddy is someone who can count on and doesn’t get carried away by money and power.
TDP chief Naidu rightfully acknowledged Dayakar Reddy’s commitment by attending the funeral and giving him much needed send off with full respects.
