“Why hefty paychecks to actors?” asks Vijay Sai Reddy; Gets trolled

In a recent statement in the Rajya Sabha on the Cinematography Amendment Bill, YSRCP MP Vijayasai Reddy addressed the issue of unequal distribution of budgets in films and the high remuneration of lead actors, especially big heroes like Bollywood star Salman Khan, who reportedly receive exorbitant sums of up to Rs. 200 crores.

MP Vijayasai Reddy emphasized that a film is not just about a single hero and highlighted the need to change the prevailing culture where the lion’s share of the budget is allocated to pay the remuneration of lead actors. He expressed concern that while heroes receive hefty paychecks, the workers who work hard behind the scenes are often paid nominal salaries.

Vijay Sai Reddy also urged for a more equitable system, where all those who contribute to making a film, including technicians, supporting actors, and other crew members, should be given appropriate benefits and recognition for their efforts. He called upon the central government to take necessary steps to strengthen the existing laws to address these disparities and ensure fair treatment for all workers in the film industry.

Additionally, MP Vijayasai Reddy raised a question regarding the prevalence of “sons of heroes” becoming heroes in the film industry. This statement may be seen as a reference to the phenomenon where star kids from film backgrounds are often given opportunities to become lead actors.

However, this speech is now getting attracted negatively, and people started trolling him. Some of the netizens are asking and rather suggesting to Vijay Sai Reddy that AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy should also distribute the profits he earns on Bharathi Cements and other businesses to all the workers equally than filling his own pockets. They are linking Vijay Sai’s speech to this and trolling the senior politician.
