Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari is on a reform-spree. The latest is that he said plans are afoot to replace the sirens on VIP vehicles with the Indian traditional music. He wants to replace it with soothing and calming sounds with Indian instruments like the flute (Basur), Shankh.
“I am making a policy in which the siren sound would be replaced by the sound of Bansuri (flute), Tabla and ‘Shankh’.” Gadkari said the move is to curb the sound pollution and also to end the VIP culture.
“Controlling sound pollution is very important. I am lucky that I got an opportunity to end the red light (beacon) on VIP’s vehicles and now I am planning to put an end to sirens,” Gadkari added. He attended the inauguration of a multi-level flyover built at Chandni Chowk in Pune.
Gadkari has brought so many reforms. He made it mandatory to have seat belts for rear seats along with the front seats in the vehicles. Also the speed warning beeps are made mandatory in all vehicles. Recently, he made it mandatory to have the AC cabin inside the large trucks and heavy vehicles. Besides these, the Union Government is spending huge on roads and the infrastructure in the country. The inauguration of several flyovers, underpasses are being done considering the fast-growing needs of the population and their future requirements.
