Jagan Announces New Deadline On Shifting To Vizag

Six months after coming to power in 2019, the ruling dispensation in Andhra Pradesh led by Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy floated the idea of three capital cities. As part of this plan, Jagan proposed the coastal city of Vishakapatnam as the executive capital for the state.

Since then, Jagan and his ministers have been trying to shift their base to Vizag. However, their plans didn’t materialize so far due to legal issues as the High Court in its orders stated that the state government had no competence to decide the issue of the capital. Despite court orders, Jagan and his ministers kept on saying that the capital would be shifted very soon.

After the cabinet meeting last month, the government decided to start its executive functioning from Vizag immediately after Dusshera. There have been numerous reports that CM’s residence is under construction with a massive budget on Rushikonda. While many expected that!

In his latest media interaction, Jagan Mohan Reddy said they are planning to shift to Vizag at least by December this year. While there are speculations in the media that a palatial residence is being constructed, Jagan said he asked his officers to scout premises to relocate his administration from Amaravati. He also claimed that an international airport will be coming up in Vizag in two years.
