200 km – 13 hrs: Public Slept On Roads To Greet Naidu

TDP supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu received a rousing reception from the public during his road rally last night. TDP sympathisers, party activists and supporters even slept on the roads the entire night, braving the chilling cold, as they had to wait for a long time for their leader. With huge crowds coming on to the roads to welcome their leader, Naidu’s convoy faced trouble in proceeding. Setting their age-related problems, elderly people also waited for long hours on the roads.

The distance between Rajamahendravaram and Vijayawada is just 200 km but it took nearly 13 hours for Naidu to reach the destination as people thronged him throughout the route. On gaining information about the route in which the rally would pass, TDP cadre and general public gathered in large numbers to catch a glimpse of their leader and also accord him a warm welcome.

The rally started at nearly 5 pm and reached Vijayawada early in the morning at 6 am with people pouring in on the roads in huge numbers to greet the senior leader. The overwhelming response to the rally hinted at the support people could give him in the elections. Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had sent Naidu to jail and put to unforeseen hardships even at a ripe age and people had understood that it was done only as part of political vendetta,  said a TDP supporter.

It has to be seen if all the support would translate into votes in the upcoming elections.
