In a surprising turn of events, YSRTP chief YS Sharmila, who initially declared her party’s independent participation in the Telangana Assembly elections, recently announced her decision to refrain from contesting. This abrupt change of plans triggered impatience among party leaders, leading to sensational comments from Gattu Ramachandra Rao against Sharmila.
Rao alleged that Sharmila had betrayed the party and accused her of deception. He went on to make audacious statements, asserting that they respected YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s legacy but had been misled by Sharmila. Rao claimed that Sharmila had no place in Telangana society and declared her expulsion from YSRTP, stating that the party belonged to him, not Sharmila.
Rao further announced his intention to discuss the party’s future with other leaders in the coming days. He questioned the need for Sharmila’s leadership in Telangana and criticized her for seeking Congress support without consulting YSRTP members. Rao predicted Sharmila’s defeat in any future electoral endeavors and accused her of making disparaging remarks about other political figures.
In a press conference at Somajiguda Press Club, Rao, along with other YSRTP leaders, openly rebelled against Sharmila and expressed their disappointment. He appealed to Telangana society to forgive them for trusting and following Sharmila’s leadership. The unfolding situation raises anticipation regarding Sharmila’s response to the criticisms leveled by Gattu Ramachandra Rao and other dissenting YSRTP leaders.
