In a surprising statement, Telangana Minister KTR, while discussing the relocation of the Amararaja Battery Company from Andhra Pradesh to Telangana, remarked, “AP Rejected it. We are taking. What’s wrong?” He elaborated on this statement, mentioning that he had no intention of harming Andhra Pradesh’s development and that the decision to move was prompted by the company’s investors facing difficulties.
KTR also highlighted that the Galla Jaydev family, the owners of Amararaja Company, have chosen to reside in Hyderabad, which played a role in their decision to establish a presence in Telangana. He emphasized that the aim was to encourage investment in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and that their actions were not driven by animosity towards Andhra Pradesh or its political parties.
The context of this move dates back to Amararaja Company’s establishment of a second division in Hyderabad last year, with plans for Giga Battery to invest approximately Rs 9,500 crore in a phased manner. This development generated significant attention and sparked political controversies. Galla Jaydev, a TDP leader, won the Guntur MP seat in 2019, but allegations arose that Amararaja’s decision to move to Hyderabad was politically motivated.
