Munnuru Kapus & Muslims To Decide The Fate In Karimnagar!

Karimnagar Assembly constituency is attracting the attention of the electorate and politicians alike as Telangana BJP former chief Bandi Sanjay is contesting from the place.

The Congress and BRS also fielded strong candidates from the constituency to give stiff competition to Bandi. While Purumalla Srinivas is contesting on Congress ticket, Gangula Kamalakar is in the fray on BRS ticket. Significantly, all the three candidates belong to Munnuru Kapu community.

Just as every constituency has a set of community dominating it, Karimnagar has the strong presence of two communities, who would decide the fate of the political candidates. The two communities are Munnuru Kapu and Muslims. Though the Velama community had a strong presence in the past, as time drifted, the Munnuru Kapu community gained strength. So, the candidates contesting from this constituency are focused on appeasing the people of these communities to clinch victory.

Details of candidates

BJP: Firebrand Sanjay would give a tough competition. It is being said that he has a lot of sympathy as he had contested from the same constituency for the last three times. His supporters have been campaigning that Bandi is the CM candidate in the party.

BRS: Gangula Kamalakar is contesting the elections for the fourth time. He had already achieved a hat-trick by winning thrice consecutively from the constituency, due to the support of his supporters and party activists. KCR’s image also came into play for Kamalakar’s victory.

Congress: Purumalla Srinivas, who was Karimnagar Rural mandal ZPTC, is contesting on a Congress ticket. He is banking on TPCC chief Revanth Reddy’s image and the anti-BRS wave.

The Munnuru Kapu tag and the high population of youth in the constituency would work in favour of all the three candidates.

Gangula: Kamalakar is claiming that he was instrumental in laying of proper roads, realizing Maneru River Front, medical college, TTD temple, Iskcon temple in Karimnagar. He says that Bandi had not done any useful work in the constituency during his tenure while Purumalla is a rowdy-sheeter.

Bandi: He had been fuming at the BRS government for failing to fulfill the promises made by the party. Targeting KCR and KTR, he is highlighting the discrepancies in Kaleshwaram project, leakage of Group exams papers, failure in providing employment to the youth. Further, he alleged that Gangula did not issue at least one new ration card.

Purumalla: Srinivas has been listing out all the services rendered during his tenure as ZPTC and sarpanch. As he believes that both the Munnuru Kapu and Muslim voters would exercise their franchise in his favour, he appears to be very confident.
