Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s guru and Visakha Sarada Peetham pontiff Swaroopanandendra Saraswati announced that it was his last birthday in Vizag.

“From next year, I will spend my time in Hyderabad. The Sarada Peetham premises at Kokapet near Hyderabad would be upgraded as a Spiritual Centre and my Shashti Poorti would be done there,” the pontiff said.

He said that he would stay in Hyderabad and continue his research on Adishankara’s Advaita Tatvam at the Spiritual Centre. The pontiff’s 59th birthday was celebrated in a grand manner in Vizag on Friday.

This announcement came as a jolt from the blue at a time when there is buzz that Jagan Mohan Reddy was moving to Vizag.

Swaroopanandendra said that 30 years have completed since he took up renunciation. Further, the pontiff said that they would make the Visakha Sarada Peetham a major centre for spreading Sankaracharya’s Tatva (principles and beliefs).

He said that there was a lot of research being done on Adi Sankaracharya’s Advaita Tatva in foreign countries. He said he would stay at the Spiritual Centre in Hyderabad and continue his research into Shankaracharya’s Tatva.

The Peetham would be handed over to Uttaradhikari and his disciple Swatmanandendra Saraswati Swami next year, he said. Being an intellectual and highly qualified, Swatmanandendra would take up the responsibility of protecting Dharma, he added.
