The big D-day is nearly here in Telangana. The counting is commencing tomorrow and the electoral trends will be out by this time tomorrow and we would be getting a projection of the numbers game. But for now, the political parties have started a reverse engineering game in Telangana.
It is well known that the prominent parties in Telangana have spent heavily in each of the 119 constituencies in the state. There are reports that the parties spent from Rs 500 to Rs 5,000 and even Rs 10,000 in some high-profile constituencies. Local leaders were designated with the job of identifying sure-shot voters and handing them monetary benefits for the same before the polls.
Then came the unexpected and unconventional part as the party agents have now started the process of recollecting the money from the voters who took money from them but didn’t turn out to vote. The polling percentage in many areas was abysmally low, indicating that a chunk of the voters didn’t turn up. They are all facing the wrath of the party agents now.
Apparently, the agents are knocking the doors of voters who didn’t turn up to cast their vote after taking money from the party agents. They are demanding the voters to return the money. This has left the voters in a state of shock as the same agents who pampered them for the last few days are now knocking on their doors, asking to return the money. Well, this is one of the many consequences for not casting your vote in the election.
