With Revanth Reddy set to take charge as the CM of Telangana on 7 December, the discussion now is about the important portfolios in his cabinet. Who is the next IT minister of the state? This is a question that is being raised by many now.
After Chandra Babu Naidu left an unassailable imprint on the Telangana IT landscape circa 2004 when the IT sector boomed, there was no well-performing IT minister till KTR took charge in 2014. KTR again pioneered the IT wave and Hyderabad now stands as one of the biggest IT export cities in India.
For the financial year 2023, Hyderabad recorded IT exports worth Rs 2.41 lakh crores, which is the highest number ever recorded by the city thus far.
And now, the IT ministry holds utmost importance in the Telangana political landscape as anyone whom Revanth picks as the IT minister will be weighed up against KTR. Congress can’t be caught lacking in the IT sector, particularly after KTR impressed one and all with his good work. So, the Congress high command and Revanth will have to be proactive when allocating the IT ministry portfolio.
There are a few high-profile aspirants including Sridhar Babu D and Komatireddy Raja Gopal Reddy who are in the race for the IT ministry and the Congress now has the job of picking the right man for the job. As a result, IT ministry has become one of the most priced prospects in the Telangana cabinet.
