Kesineni Nani operated as the cornerstone leader for Telugu Desam in Vijayawada for many decades. But the time has come for him to leave TDP after Chandra Babu confirmed that he won’t be given the Vijayawada MP ticket and asked him to stay away from the party. Nani will soon meet Parliament speaker and submit his resignation to the MP post, after which he will quit TDP. His daughter Swetha has already resigned as TDP corporator and quit TDP.
In a move that not many would have expected even a few months ago, Kesineni Nani is said to be on the move to YSRCP. According to reports, he could be moving to YCP in the next two weeks. He is also likely to get a YCP MP ticket from Vijayawada, according to reports.
According to these speculative reports, Nani has been on good terms with local YCP MLAs and allocating desired funds to their constituencies. He operated in good faith with the local MLAs which makes his road that much easier to join YCP. This fondness for YCP MLAs put Nani in trouble with TDP leaders but he used to cover it up by saying that is his ‘protocol’ as MP, reportedly.
YCP anyway has the Vijayawada MP seat vacant as Prasad V Potluri(PVP) who contested on YCP ticket from Vijayawada and lost in 2019 has moved away from the party. So, if Jagan really decides to take Kesineni Nani into YCP, then him getting the MP ticket might not be too tough, given Nani’s expertise and local charisma.
But this is all just a speculative narrative for now and there is no official word from Nani himself or the YCP leadership. But if that happens, it would sure be strange to see Nani in YCP colors after carrying the yellow brigade for many years.
