Congress on ‘Empty BRS’ Mission?

In what can be a tit for tat move, the Congress is on a mission to drain out the BRS of its strong leaders.

According to sources, the Congress has set a target to pull out as many leaders as possible from the BRS and take them into their party fold, before the general elections.

The Congress had already begun the process and significantly, initiated the process from the grassroots-level. It is for the same reason that the Congress has cast focus on municipalities, panchayats and zilla parishads.

It is learnt that the Congress is of the opinion that it would be easy to defeat the BRS if the party is weakened at the ground-level.

Accordingly, the Congress has chalked out a plan to get hold on as many municipalities as possible at the earliest. Already, the chairmen of 10 municipalities ruled by the BRS have been defeated by moving no-confidence motion. All these municipalities are now in the Congress kitty.

This is being done as per a pre-decided plan. Firstly, the councilors are being pulled into the Congress fold and then basing on the numbers, the no-confidence motion is being introduced to pull down the chairmen from the position.

There was speculation that the Congress would take up this mission after being voted to power because the BRS had done the same with the Congress and TDP, during the last 10 years.

Drawing the leaders of other parties into its fold, the BRS began claiming that it is a very strong party having the support of senior politicians in the region.

Though BRS president KCR, his son and former minister KTR, his nephew T. Harish Rao know about this, they are not able to prevent this exercise nor are they able to oppose it.

After the municipalities, the Congress would shift focus to the panchayats and zilla parishads. Later, MLCs and MLAs will also be targeted and the BRS will be left as a deflated balloon.
