‘Reddy’ Complaint On ‘Jagan’ & ‘Revanth’

Caste equations are always important in politics and that is why all the major parties try to cover all the notable castes while distributing government posts in order to appease all sections of voters. But sometimes, situations and equations are such that one particular caste leaders get the majority of the posts. In Telangana, a similar scenario is being observed.

In a viral and attention-commanding social media post, it is denoted that there are too many Reddy individuals in government and administrative posts in Telangana.

The CM, of course, is Revanth Reddy, and the newly appointed MLC and TSPSC chairman, Kodandaram Reddy, and Mahender Reddy are also from the Reddy community. Even in the cabinet, the Reddy populous is highlighted with the presence of Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.

Other principal government-operational positions like Intelligence Chief and Advocate General are also held by Sashidhar Reddy and Sudharshan Reddy respectively. CM’s secretary Chandrasekhar Reddy, CM’s PA Jaipal Reddy, and Hyderabad Commissioner of Police Srinivas Reddy are a few more examples. There are multiple other Reddy individuals who are in top positions in the Congress government and this is giving BRS-supporting section of social media clout to target Revanth and his government.

In AP, the YCP government is facing the same complaint from the opposition for filling most of the administrative and nominated posts with Reddys. The opposition in Telangana is now raising the same complaint on Revanth Reddy.

But there are certain exceptions here. Professor Kodandarami Reddy can’t be brought under the caste brackets as his fight for Telangana statehood is above all else. A point that is cited by Congress supporters for this ‘Reddy’ issue is that Congress is comparatively more secular than other regional parties so there will be pressures and obligations from multiple sources.

Congress activists are pointing out that every major leader has his say in the party and with that comes recommendations for various posts. Revanth Reddy can’t make one-sided decisions either to maintain caste equations. Congress, being a collective party should work on this complaint together and the blame can’t be pushed entirely on Revanth Reddy, observers opined.
