First Wicket Down For BRS

BRS faced a demoralizing defeat in the 2023 assembly election as Congress, led by Revanth swung to power. The only way for BRS to bounce back from this situation is to perform well in the Lok Sabha elections. But even on this front, BRS faced a setback before they got on with their Lok Sabha polls campaign.

BRS’s incumbent MP from the Peddpalle LS constituency, Venkatesh Netha Borlakunta has quit the KCR party and swiftly joined Congress. In a matter of hours, the sitting MP left BRS and joined Congress in the presence of Revanth Reddy, Bhatti Vikramarka, and Mallikharjuna Kharge. He is likely to retain the Peddapalle MP ticket from Congress.

BRS lost former MLA Rajaiah to Congress but what’s more concerning for the KCR party will be the departure of an incumbent MP. This is being considered as the first wicket down for BRS in the Lok Sabha innings.

Venkatesh Netha was Congress’s MLA candidate in 2018 and he later joined BRS and got the MP ticket in 2019 and won the polls. Again after 5 years, he is going back to Congress.
