Why Sitting Rajya Sabha MP Quits YSRCP?

At a time when the ruling YSRCP is boasting of having swept the Rajya Sabha elections and confining the opposition TDP to zero in the house, mastermind Chandrababu Naidu has strongly retaliated by giving a befitting counter.

In what can be a big blow to YS Jagan and the YSRCP, Nellore district president and sitting MP of Rajya Sabha, Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy (VPR), has resigned from both his posts.

Vemireddy is considered to be a Nellore Lok Sabha candidate. He had also announced himself and started the poll campaign too. However, Vemireddy gave a sudden shock to the party and its cadre with his sudden exit.

Notably, Vemireddy is said to be a close associate of CM Jagan. This is seen as a huge setback to the ruling party ahead of the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections which are just two months away from now.

Meanwhile, TDP leaders and cadre are in a jubilant mood. They are of the opinion that Chandrababu has sent signals that Rajya Sabha MPs not matter to the TDP at this moment. TDP is confident of winning more Rajya Sabha MPs in the next elections after winning seats in the 2024 Assembly elections.
