BRS is gearing up for an important Lok Sabha election campaign after having lost the recent assembly elections. But shockingly, BRS is reportedly finding it tough to secure the candidates for the Lok Sabha elections with key leaders not interested in contesting in Lok Sabha elections on BRS ticket.
The latest update is that Gutta Sukender Reddy and his family who were initially keen on contesting from both the parliamentary constituencies in the erstwhile Nalgonda district, have taken a step back. Reportedly, the Gutta family is hurt by the BRS high command for holding talks with other candidates after their family openly announced they are interested in contesting on BRS’s behalf.
What followed was Gutta Amit Reddy’s meeting with Congress’s Komatireddy Venkat Reddy which led to speculations that the Gutta family could move into Congress. If that really happens, losing the Gutta family before the Lok Sabha elections could be a huge blow to BRS.
However, Gutta Amit clarified that they are not switching parties. But the Gutta family which is hurt by BRS’s operations might not contest in the Lok Sabha elections.
At the same time, Malla Reddy and his son-in-law Marri Rajasekhar Reddy who were initially expected to contest in the Lok Sabha election have also dropped from the race.
Two influential families – the Gutta family and the Malla Reddy family stepping out of the Lok Sabha scene before the election is a worrisome scene for BRS. What could be the reason for these BRS leaders not interested in contesting? Maybe it is time fore BRS high command to contemplate on this matter.
