YSR Congress has officially announced its list of candidates for the coming assembly and parliamentary elections in Andhra Pradesh. Coming to the social aspect of caste-wise seat segregation, there are a total of 49 Reddy community candidates on the YCP list.
49 of the total 175 MLA candidates announced by YSR Congress belong to the Reddy community. This means 28% of the total candidates i.e., 1 in every 4 candidates is a Reddy.
This has given opportunity to the opposition parties to comment on the Reddy-dominant list of YSR Congress. Opposition leaders are now terming YSR Congress as a Reddy-heavy party and citing the fact that 49/175 seats were given to this community as an authenticator for their comment.
As quoted earlier, a similar trend was seen in MP ticket allocation as Reddy leaders who are close to YS Jagan: Vijayasai Reddy, YS Avinash Reddy, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, and Peddireddy Midhun Reddy were all given MP tickets.
