Pithapuram is the focal point of many political discussions these days after Pawan Kalyan announced that he is continuing from here. One of the main detractors of this move from Pawan has been local TDP leader SVSN Varma who rebelled after the JSP head announced his decision to contest here. TDP head Chandrababu had to be called to action and he settled the issue, eventually leading to Varma pledging complete support to Pawan Kalyan.
Just as it looked like the issue had been settled, Varma reignited the fire again as he said he will definitely contest from Pithapuram in case Pawan Kalyan doesn’t contest here. This comes after Pawan said in a media meet yesterday that BJP high command proposed him to contest as an MLA and MP but he wants to contest and win as an MLA from Pithapuram first. But if BJP persists, I could contest as an MP as well, Pawan said.
After Pawan left a small question mark, Varma smelled the opportunity and immediately threw his kerchief on Pithapuram MLA ticket in case Pawan refrains from contesting here.
Political experts are commenting that having such unstable and volatile situations in a key assembly segment where the main ally of the alliance, Pawan Kalyan is contesting is not a good sign. They are pointing out that Varma’s provocative statements about Pawan and Pithapuram must be contained before further damage is done.
