The first defection from BRS to Congress happened after senior MLA Danam Nagender left the KCR party and joined the ruling party. CM Revanth Reddy this is just the start of what is to come and he has lifted just one gate, and many more gates could open in the future.
Another Congress senior Beerla Ilaiah has carried forward Revanth’s assertion as he said BRS is facing an existential crisis in Telangana and the real game starts now.
Ilaiah said 26 BRS MLAs are in touch with Congress and they are ready to join the party if prompted by the Congress high command. “If we open four more gates, 26 MLAs will leave BRS and join us. They are all raring to join our party and are waiting for our command. Once we decide, BRS will be a literal nothing in Telangana and won’t even be left with opposition party status.”
If BRS does lose 26 MLAs to Congress, it will practically be left with 13 MLAs which will mean that BRS’s legislative party will be dissolved and merged with Congress, which is exactly what KCR did to Congress in 2018. Will the Revanth Reddy government deliver tit-for-tat justice to KCR by following the BRS head’s own footsteps? We will get clarity once the Lok Sabha elections are done. A bad defeat here could be catastrophic for the BRS camp.
