Naidu Gives Bapatla MP Ticket To Telangana BJP Leader

An important phase of MLA/MP candidates announcement was completed by Telugu Desam Party yesterday with the arrival of the third list. One of the highlights of the list is that a Telangana BJP leader found his place in TDP’s candidates list. This interesting incident happened in Bapatla Lok Sabha candidate selection which earlier had YCP defiant Undavalli Sridevi and later, TDP SC Cell Chairman MS Raju in serious candidature.

In an unexpected event, the much-desired Bapatla MP ticket went to Krishna Prasad, a hardworking Telangana BJP leader who had his sight on the Warangal BJP ticket. Krishna Prasad worked on various philanthropic activities in Warangal and was hoping to get the Warangal MP ticket.

But after BRS leader Aroori Ramesh joined the BJP, he managed to grab away the MP ticket from Krishna Prasad’s grasp. But reportedly, Telangana BJP rated Krishna Prasad highly and wanted to reward him, which is when they proposed his name to Chandrababu for the Bapatla MP ticket.

Krishna Prasad has good connections with AP’s geopolitical map as he worked as Vijayawada police commissioner, Warangal, Vizag DIG, and also as Nellore, Vizag, Guntur, and Medak SP in the past. Bapatla was earlier under his jurisdiction while he served as SP of the erstwhile Guntur district.

Considering his strong connection with AP, and the persistent efforts of the BJP to give him the ticket at any cost, Chandrababu was convinced that he would be the right fit for the role. But nevertheless, even TDP leaders are surprised to see Naidu giving the Bapatla MP ticket to a Telangana-based BJP leader.

Krishna Prasad will face YSRCP’s Nandigama Suresh who is the sitting MP from Bapatla. TDP last won this seat in 2014 through Malyadri Sriram and a decade later, Krishna Prasad is in the contest from TDP’s side. Can TDP claim this seat again?
