For 1st Time, Naidu Targets YS Sharmila

After YS Sharmila entered Andhra Pradesh politics and took charge as Andhra Pradesh Congress president, she has been seriously targeting her brother YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and calling him out on his lackluster rule. For most parts, Telugu Desam supremo Chandrababu Naidu remained tight-lipped on this matter, but for the first time, he has spoken against Sharmila.

Naidu appealed to the public that the brother-sister duo of Jagan and Sharmila might be playing a wicked drama of splitting the anti-YCP votes. He commented that this could be an electoral gimmick from the two of them to split the anti-incumbency vote and try to take a part of the votes that would otherwise be polled for the alliance. He called on the public not to fall for these tricks.

Naidu recalled about Vijayamma saying Jagan would take care of AP while her daughter Sharmila would look after Telangana, and questioned her about why Sharmila came to AP all of a sudden.

Naidu’s comments come with a farsighted assessment as it must be observed that Jagan was the biggest benefactor of Congress’ downfall in AP as nearly all of its votes transferred to Jagan’s YCP. Now, after Jagan’s five-year rule, the anti-incumbency votes should entirely be polled for the alliance. But now that Sharmila has entered the scene all of a sudden, a minor chunk of these votes(at least traditionally Congress votes) could go to Congress. This is exactly what Naidu pointed out and asked the AP public to beware of.
