Having registered a landslide victory in 2019 elections, the YCP boss Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is aiming at a much bigger target this time. The party won 151 seats in the previous elections and this time, his slogan is ‘Why Not 175?’
Though Jagan launched the action plan for accomplishing his endeavor a year ago, the ground realities have fizzled out the enthusiasm in the cadre. The backlash from the public during Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam made the leaders realize that all is not well in the constituencies.
According to inside talk, while a few leaders are just aiming at winning 100 seats, a few others are just win the elections with a majority sufficient to clinch power as there is an opinion that a repeat of YCP’s victory in 2024 would decimate the TDP in the state.
However, the increasing exodus from the YCP is reflecting at the party’s defeat, given the opposition’s tripartite alliance striving extra hours to wrest power from the YCP, opined political analysts.
