Several movie stars made their entry into politics and were successful politicians. Following the same path, several social media celebrities also tried to make it big in politics. However, there is no concrete proof of the social media celebrities becoming popular, despite having lakhs of followers online.

Several SM celebrities tried their luck and even failed.

BJP MP candidate from Hyderabad Kompella Madhavi Latha also belongs to the same category. She has huge fan following on social media and her videos are watched by millions of people online but will all the following convert to votes, when it comes to politics is a big question.

Till sometime ago, Latha was not known to many.

Despite being the wife of the chairman of Virinchi Hospitals, a Bharat Natyam dancer and organizing many social service activities in the Old City.

She gained prominence once the BJP picked her up and issued the ticket as MP candidate, pitching her against the MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi.

Though she exhibits Hindutva both in her attire and opinions, she has been fielded from the Old City. Will she be able to secure votes in a constituency dominated by the minority community, while being a staunch supporter of Hindutva is a puzzle.

Hyderabad has always remained the forte of the MIM. From 1984 to 2004, Sultan Salauddin had won as the MP six times. Then his son Asaduddin Owaisi had won as the MP four times consecutively.

There is a widespread opinion that defeating Owaisi is almost impossible. However, Madhavi Latha, who is born in the Old City, is campaigning full throttle and also trying to win the hearts of the electorate.

Certainly, she will script history if she emerges victorious from the constituency.
