Adding to the standing argument that the government employees in Andhra Pradesh are furious with the YSR Congress government, a record number of state and central employees have casted their votes through postal ballots before they go off on election duties.
According to national media reports, a whopping 4,32,222 postal ballot votes were casted in AP which is nearly 4 times as that of 1.2 lakh votes casted in 2019.
Usually, when the voting percentage is higher than average, then it is regarded as a sign of anti incumbency against the standing government. If we correlate this with the all time record postal ballots, the trend could be worrisome for YCP.
There’s already an understanding that these postal ballots alone are enough to change the electoral result in constituencies that have a close fight between the YCP and TDP+ candidates.
Om average, each constituency saw 2000 postal ballots while a select few saw 3,500-4000 ballots. The huge upsurge in ballots could be a worrisome some for the incumbent YCP government.
Another 2 lakh government employees who were posted on election duties in their own constituencies will also cast their votes on May 13 and this will add to the final tally.
