Over the last 5 years, one of the main complaints against CM Jagan and his YSR Congress government is the agonisingly poor quality of liquor. The opposition parties have been alleging that thousands of people are losing their lives drinking the low quality liquor that is being supplied in AP.
When asked about this burning topic about cheap liquor, Jagan gave a personal opinion driven response.
“I personally don’t drink liquor myself. I don’t believe the people should also be consuming liquor. I am abiding by my liquor control policy in the state and I want to enforce it any which way I can.” Jagan said.
Jagan beat around the bush when asked about the cheap liquor. In 2019, Jagan promised to impose a ban on liquor, but eventually the Jagan government ended up introducing new liquor brands and carried on with the liquor sales.
While Chandrababu has reaffirmed he would reintroduce quality liquor at regulated prices, Jagan validating cheap liquor by saying he doesn’t like people drinking alcohol might draw a polar response. This is likely to be one of the key factors in the polling patterns amongst male voters.
