There is no hiding the fact that the electoral trends in India, particularly the Telugu states are heavily influenced by monetary gains and other offerings. Coming to the assembly and parliamentary elections, here is a look at the dark side of things as an official number regarding the amount of money seized and the number of arrests made is here.
In total, Andhra Pradesh police seized Rs 107.96 crore in cash. This money was intended to be distributed to the public to influence the voters. A total of 7,305 people were arrested with regard to these cases.
Apart from the cash seizures, unpermitted liquor worth Rs 58.70 crore was also seized by the police. Shockingly, over 61,000 people who were involved in the liquor distribution were arrested by the police. These numbers were presented by DGP Harish Kumar Gupta.
Compared to the Rs 130 crore that was seized in Telangana during the assembly election in 2023, the illicit cash seizures in Andhra Pradesh are surprisingly on the lower side.
