Ramoji Rao – The Man Behind ‘Amaravati’

Media baron and Eenadu Group chief Ramoji Rao is no longer among us as he passed away due to ailing health conditions in the early hours of June 8th. This tragic passing is being mourned by one and all.

Interestingly, there is a heartening connection between the capital of AP, Amaravati, and Ramoji Rao. Not many might remember this but Ramoji Rao was the one who suggested Amaravati’s name for the capital.

Chandrababu Naidu had earlier revealed in 2014 that Ramoji researched a lot and came up with the suggestion that the capital must be named Amaravati. He revealed how Ramoji’s suggestion on Amaravati was approved unanimously by one and all.

What must be noted is that Ramoji was a part of the Amaravati journey, and he then faced hurdles in YCP’s tenure while Amaravati was also paining with destructive measures taken by Jagan.

Ramoji fought for the cause relentlessly over the last five years and secured the future of Amaravati with the resurgence of TDP government and coincidentally passed away just after winning the battle.
