700 Cr ‘Sheep’ Scam In Telangana?

Soon after Revanth Reddy took charge as the chief minister in Telangana, many departments were actively working around the clock.

The Anti Corruption Bureau especially does not leave any officials who resort to corruption. The ACB has now discovered an alleged sheep distribution scam in the state during the previous government.

According to the reports, the ACB arrested multiple officials, including a former aide of former Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, over irregularities in sheep distribution, a flagship scheme by the previous BRS government. The ACB officials are probing the scam and have discovered multiple shocking truths.

In a statement, ACB briefed the scam, saying, “The arrested officials violated all the instructions issued for procurement of sheep and deliberately involved private persons/brokers in the procurement process. With a mollified intention, they deliberately gave instructions to all district joint directors/DVAHOs of the Animal Husbandry department to facilitate misappropriation of government money by private persons.”

According to the ACB, the accused misappropriated around ‘700 crore in the scam. So far, ten people have been arrested in the case, and two have not been taken into custody due to a court order. The probe is underway and more details are awaited.
