Andhra Pradesh’s ex-chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is still assessing the reasons behind YSR Congress’s historic defeat in the recent AP elections. He chaired a meeting with YCP MLA and MP contestants today and has reportedly planned a big political move.
As per the flashing media reports, Jagan Mohan Reddy is set to embark on a Odarpu Yatra (Condolence tour) across Andhra Pradesh. While the earlier Odarpu Yatra prior to 2014 was to meet the families of the deceased who couldn’t bear YSR’s death, the new Yatra in 2024 will be for a different cause.
The new Odarpu Yatra is apparently aimed at meeting the families of those who lost their lives unable to bear Jagan losing power. Also, the families of those who were allegedly attacked in the post-poll rifts will be met and consoled by Jagan, it seems. This yatra could be commencing in December or January this year.
The pattern is clear that Jagan is relying on his famous Odarpu Yatra program to regain YCP’s sheen. While the first Odarpu yatra had a firm emotional connection, the one that is scheduled now might not have the same degree of connection, opined an analyst.
About the recent debacle of YCP in the election, Jagan said the defeat is just an interval and not an end card so there is nothing to be worried about. He vowed to stand by the families and the victims of the political attacks. Well, AP could be going back to the old days when Jagan used to hit the roads often on his yatras.
