The upcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections is crucial for the ruling TRS and opposition parties Congress and BJP to prove their strength. While Congress wants to give a shock to ruling TRS, BJP is also mustering its strength in the Hyderabad region.
Especially, the results of Lok Sabha elections have given a big boost to BJP as it won 4 Parliament seats in the 2019 general election. Although BJP failed to keep that momentum in the subsequent local body elections in the state, Telangana BJP unit has come up with a strategy to fight TRS and Congress. BJP is likely to seek Pawan’s support in the GHMC polls.
Pawan Kalyan has a great fan following in Telangana. Kapu voters and voters from Andhra settlers are key factors in Hyderabad. In addition to this, Pawan’s political party Janasena party has workers and leaders in Hyderabad. It is buzzed that Pawan is going to extend support to BJP in the GHMC election. While it is not clear whether Pawan would personally campaign for BJP in the GHMC poll or not, it is heard that Pawan would support the BJP. This will certainly not go well with CM KCR, Minister KTR and other TRS leaders.
Already, Pawan is hobnobbing with BJP at central level. He is doing his best to impress them. So, he may also support BJP in GHMC polls to strengthen his friendship with BJP. It needs to be seen how far this will help BJP in the GHMC polls.
