#Bihar: First Phase Polling Begins!

The state of Bihar is underway with polling as voting across 71 Assembly constituencies from 16 districts has begun this morning. A total of 1065 candidates are in the poll foray from several political parties.

Janata Dal (United) and BJP are in a poll alliance while Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Left parties are up against the ruling coalition. Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) scion Chirag Paswan is contesting the polls alone and he is expected to take a call on the alliance post the election results.

Owing to the Covid-19, the Election Commission has reduced the cap on voters from 1600 to 1000 at every polling booth. The Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) will be sanitised while thermal scanners, hand sanitiser, soap and water are made available for voters.

The second and third phases of the elections in the state are scheduled on November 3rd and 7th. The results would be declared on November 10.
