Union Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Irani has been tested positive for Covid-19. Smriti Irani, who had actively campaigned for the Bihar elections for the National Democratic Alliance, seems to have contracted the Corona Virus.
Apparently, she developed mild symptoms and got tested. Smriti took to social networking site to confirm the news. She wrote on her micro-blogging page, “It is rare for me to search for words while making an announcement; hence here’s me keeping it simple — I’ve tested positive for #COVID and would request those who came in contact with me to get themselves tested at the earliest.”
Smriti got “get well soon” messages from her party colleagues, BJP MPs and other politicians cutting across political parties. Bangalore South MP Tejasvi Surya wrote, “Please take care and well soon ma’am. All prayers are with you.”
Interestingly, Congress party leader Shashi Tharoor was also among them who wished for Smriti’s recovery. He wrote, ” Wish you a speedy & complete recovery @smritiirani! Be well.”
Smriti Irani had defeated Rahul Gandhi, Congress party’s Prime Ministerial candidate, in Amethi parliamentary constituency in 2014 and 2019 consecutively. Since then, Smriti has been a target for Congress leaders.
Meanwhile, India’s Covid-19 tally touched 7.99 million cases with 43,893 fresh Covid cases. 508 new deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours and the death toll mounted to 0.12 million.
