In Pics: After 5 Years, CM Couple Back In Tirumala

The holy shrine of Tirumala holds the highest value in the Hindu community and particularly so in the Telugu-speaking states of Andhra and Telangana. In this context, it is a long-standing tradition for the CM of AP to procure silk apparel and bring them to Balaji’s service. This ritual happens every year before the start of the mighty auspicious Bramhotsavam.

The common practice is that the CM and his wife would go to Tirumala to partake in the ritual. The CM himself carries the silk apparel on his head while his spouse accompanies him inside the temple. A special prayer is then performed with the two of them present. 

But over the last five years, this practice was broken as only Jagan Mohan Reddy used to arrive at the temple before the Bramhotsavam. He was never accompanied by his wife Bharathi to the Tirumala temple, thus putting a break to the long-standing tradition of the CM couple offering silk apparel to Balaji.

However, cut to last night, CM Chandrababu and his wife Bhuvaneswari happily and rightfully revived the long-standing tradition. Both of them partook in the auspicious ceremony last night, which earmarked the commencement of the famous Tirumala Bramhotsavam. This way, after 5 long years, the CM couple reached Tirumala to perform a special pooja, after a 5 year long break in Jagan’s tenure.
