YCP Still Not Welcoming Amaravati!

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu formally restarted works in the capital city, Amaravati, but the Opposition YCP is still not able to digest the lone capital idea.

YCP leader and former MLA Y. Visveswar Reddy lamented that Chandrababu Naidu had not learnt any lessons even after the bifurcation of the state. Naidu is still continuing with the same old senseless talk of building a capital city matching global standards. He even had taken a debt of Rs 15,000 crore towards the purpose.

In addition, all the offices relating to the judiciary department which had been shifted to Rayalaseema are being relocated to Amaravati.

The former MLA said that the relocation of the offices was unfair and it will be good if Naidu can study the recommendations made by the Sri Krishna Commission and Siva Ramakrishnan Committee and implement the same for the uniform and comprehensive development of all the regions.

Even during the recent floods, the capital region faced the brunt of water stagnation, the YCP leader reminded.

In fact, the YCP has not learnt any lesson despite facing a humiliating defeat in the 2024 polls, considered a referendum on the Amaravati capital.

In 2023, Jagan tried to incorporate R-5 zone in the masterplan of the Amaravati capital region, as part of it which he even laid foundation stone for the construction of a massive housing colony of 50,793 houses for the poor at Krishnayapalem village in core area of Amaravati, estimated to be built at a cost of Rs 1,829.57 crore.

However, the High Court thwarted the plan by issuing stay orders.

YCP president and former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy failed to attend the foundation stone ceremony of Amaravati construction in October 2015. Though he spoke in favour of Amaravati in the Assembly, his absence at the ceremony raised doubts among the people.

After being voted to power in 2019, he unleashed the three-capital formula and began choosing Vizag as his preferred destination, citing that the cost of construction would be much less in the Port City, compared to Amaravati. The farmers in the CRDA region launched a protest opposing the 3-capitals formula and fought relentlessly.

It is time the YCP learn lessons.
